Dare you turn a stranger :)

Memories stick with you forever, it's only that we part with people! And so did my sweet, good, vivid, overwhelming and remarkably retentive memories with you all enforced me to write this special message for you all. Some were phenomenal, while some were equally dreadful. Some made me shake with laughter and others left me teary-eyed. I am so glad and thankful that we have shared such great memories and time together. These will surely work as a time machine for me to go back and cherish them. In Bronnie Ware's book 'The Top Five Regrets of the Dying' one of the most common regret was losing touch with friends. It's sad that we recognize the true value of things/people once we don't have them.I know we might get very busy afterwards but not enough to lose touch. One call/one text is enough. One hi/one hello  is enough. If someone does so, he/she is not free, he/she just cares more that anyone else does. After all it's all about priorities. The journey from strang

GOOD ENOUGH > PERFECT ?

Image courtesy:The Confidence Code For Girls Perfect.Perfection.Perfectionism.Perfectionist.  Many We all dream about it.None achieve it. Perfection is an UNATTAINABLE goal ! It's like a moving target , a cat chasing a shadow , a dog catching it's tail and a never ending finish line.As it is rightly said by Joseph Eastwood - "Perfect is a dream that you wake up from and spend forever trying to remember" Katty Kay and Claire Shipman in their book 'The Confidence Code For Girls'  (the book which inspired me to write this post) defined perfectionism as follows -  Perfectionism:  A really dangerous disease. An invasive, strangling vine that creeps into your life and chokes  everything in its path.It stresses you out and keeps you from taking risks. And most importantly, it keeps you from being you.    If perfection is your goal , you will NEVER REACH IT ! That's the bitter truth. Life is not full of big blue skies , brightly coloured rainbows , fanciable unicor

Which is the richest place on the Earth?

Image
Venkatesh Yadav in his book 'College to Startup' told his readers that ideas are useless. Then he asked his readers to guess which is the richest place on the earth. The USA? UAE ? Kuwait ? India? No. According to him , the richest place on the earth is a graveyard. WHAT? HOW? WHY? To find out keep reading. Just wonder , there are so many fabulous and mind-blowing ideas and fascinating dreams in the minds of people who are now dead! Unfortunately, their ideas and dreams are dead because they never executed them when they were alive. People are remarkable at coming up with astonishingly grand and overwhelming ideas.People with awesome ideas are the same as  ordinary people unless they EXECUTE IT.Ideas are easy , execution is what counts. EXECUTION + IDEA = REALITY= SUCCESS When you mix action with your idea , that is when your idea comes into existence. Now you get it why Venkatesh Yadav said ideas are useless unless we execute them ?  Ideas are like water (I know  because they fl

Messengers from heaven

What is that one thing which connects the heaven to the earth? Air? No. Sky? No. Sunshine? Try again. Atmosphere? Not exactly. RAIN. Yes, it's rain. Some despise it while some love it. Some feel it while others just get wet.It falls straight from the above. It is the best blessing in disguise! Just like confetti falling from the sky in the form drops. It's as if your ancestors or loved ones are literally 'showering' blessings and good wishes on you and 'pouring' their heart out. It feels so good to have such a beautiful and warm connection between the one below and the one above. Isn't it? Rain is like a medium that connects the two realms of earth-lithosphere and atmosphere. Rain drops constantly  travel between the earth and the sky when the water cycle is set in motion. Just imagine these rain drops are  brimmed with such homely and earthy essence to the core! Did you know that late actor Irrfan Khan had a strange understanding of rain? Yes, his son Babil

INSIGHT THE INSIDE

Image
All that glitters is not gold,  The hidden truth is yet to unfold.  In your eyes it might shine,  But in reality, it's a dark line.  For you, it might seem inviting,  What if it's actually not exciting?  It might be the best thing on the Earth,  Think twice, is it even worth ?  For you, it's all voguish and famous,  Just think what harm it can do to us.  To you, its savoury and tasty,  What if it's really unappealing and musty?  It might be something you are passionate about,  But when you come to know, it leaves you in doubt.  For all, it's public and popular from outside,  What if it's actually lonely from inside?  To the world it may seem powerful and renowned,  What if it's actually not that significant and profound ?  What we do is just admire,  Attention is what it doesn't require.  Adversity is when true strength is shown, Those who fall are often the ones well-known.  Recognize and realize is what we all have to do,  That's the change to be m

THE WINDOW COMPROMISING!

Image
Bus number  482 was on its way to Santacruz station. The sweltering afternoon let sweat trickle down  the forehead , making the palms clammy. Renita just couldn't bear the scorching sun.She hurriedly opened the window beside her with a loud thud. She gave out a sigh of relief and started fanning her face with a newspaper. She relaxed herself as the cool wind passed gently over her cheeks. Rohit , a kind-hearted avid reader , was sitting behind Renita , engrossed in his book. The unhindered wind gushed inside , making the pages of his book flip continuously as the bus ran.Rohit's utter single-minded concentration was now disturbed! He was at the verge of solving the intensive investigation on a murder mystery with Sherlock Holmes when the wind blew away.It was like a naughty child messed up all your document papers and scattered them on the floor.Unfortunately ,Rohit lost his track!  He gently closed the window beside Renita and got back to find the page he was rea

The JUDGE GRUDGE!

Image
Have you ever wondered why do we all have the habit of constantly judging others?(unless your are a judge of a court :)) I just gave a second thought and this is what I think about judging others...... "That dress is to short" , "This dish is very salty" , "You don't look good in these clothes" , "You are not good at this"... are like some staple words on our lips. The hard truth is that we judge others to make ourselves look more superior and dominant.Well , this all happens in our minds unknowingly. We pretend and make ourselves believe that we are better , stronger , greater! We put up a fake show and inevitably solace ourselves by lying. The fact is that we stand up by putting other down! Whom to blame? Gossip queens!? Society!?  NO. Blame your human nature which compels us to think in that manner which we unfortunately can't  stop. This seed is sown in the hearts of every person on the Earth. It's up to you whether you

HOW YOU SEE THE WORLD...

Image
I came across this lovely and exhilarating story while reading a book called- THE ART OF BEING A BRILLIANT TEENAGER though this article works for every ages! Would love to share because not all might be having this great book which is more like a thought-provoking guide to being yourself! It's motivating, enthralling and humorous too. So this is how it starts... A young couple moved into a swanky apartment in a new neighbourhood. They sat in their kitchen having breakfast , watching the world go by.The woman saw her neighbour pegging out the washing."That laundry's not very clean", she tutted."She either needs a new washing machine or better washing powder." Other than the crunching on his toast, her husband remained silent. His wife's comment was exactly the same the next day.And the next."Why  on earth is that woman hanging out dirty washing?", she sighed in disgust."She needs lessons in basic hygiene!" And her

EGGUCATION:The egg theory!

Image
I am sure most of you all might be knowing how to distinguish between an old egg and a new or fresh egg. It's simple , just dip some of them in a bowl of water and observe what happens. OLD EGGS FLOAT.NEW EGGS SINK. Try it.It's a fun activity! Well , have you ever wondered this activity can give us a life lesson? Interesting right!? Keep reading. Just imagine the old eggs are  people who are experienced , professional and experts in their field of work or activity and the new eggs are that class of people who are of course inexperienced , untrained  or simply beginners! Notice that it is over a period of time that you enhance, strengthen , refine and improve in life regardess of what field you are in.The old eggs that are floating above obviously didn't get there in a blink of a second.Experts , in any field , practised day and night and it is only because of the hardwork and dedication they put in , they rise up and earn that position throug

CAT-FRIENDLY!

Rohan , a twelve year old animal lover , lived with his grandmother having lost both his loving parents in an unfortunate car accident when he was around five years old.He was dearly brought up with love and warmth coupled with good manners and etiquettes. He always longed for a pet! Everyday he preserved some portion of his lunch for Tommy , a playful kitten with beige hue and random white patches. No wonder it was the society kitten often loathed by the seniors of the colony for its aimless wandering and roaming. On his way back home he would always offer his intentionally leftover food to the kitten and also pour some water in a plastic cup labelled 'Tommy' which he had brought from his residence last summer. It had been a long time since he was carrying out this secret business and working as an everyday undercover generous supplier of food and water! Sometimes in summers Tommy  often got some milk like a special bonus or so to get some respite from the everyday meal.Eve

Rani Velu Nachiyar Rani Velu Nachiyar  (3 January 1730 – 25 December 1796) was a little-known queen of  Sivaganga estate  from  1780–1790. She did this in 1780, 77 years before the First War of Independence. She was  popularly known as ‘ veeramangai ’ (brave woman). FEW WORDS SPEAK MORE...

Image
We come across so many feelings every single day of our life. I wonder how you feel when they are personified!? Meaning what would happen if you gave them some human-touch i.e giving them some human characteristics! Read below to find out. 1."Your child is improving in academics", said the teacher. Pride concealed his mother and relief patted on his shoulder as he sighed. 2 ."Better I become an engineer " , she said dropping her paint brush with paint smeared face. Reluctance shook hands with her as passion left the room. 3."I give up! ", he cried panting on the turf. Perseverance and determination sobbed together while cowardice mocked them. 4.10 missed calls. 5 mails. 2 video calls. One was a friend of ego and the other, a well-wisher of hope! 5."You are thinking in the wrong direction. It wasn't me!", he pleaded. Misunderstanding knocked at the door. Trust and faith of age old friendship departed. 6."Yo

THE DAY PORTER STOPPED FROWNING

Prosthetic leg.Lost two sons in the army.Lost wife in a car accident.Bungalow reduced to an apartment.Porter's grandfather had seen misery and met misfortunes more than the grey hair on his head. His life was full of traumas , suffering and hardship , but not sufficient enough to eliminate the smile on his face.Porter's grandfather encountered so many predicaments but not once did he stop being cheerful and happy! "What was the secret behind this peculiar happiness?", thought Porter , who was being served dinner by his grandpa.Porter thought now was the right time to satisfy his curiosity which he longed for."Grandpa , you have suffered so much in your life  but still you always keep smiling? How do you do it?I mean...I...am...very curious to know about it.This all is turning me inquisitive. ",said Porter. His grandpa giggled."It's all about tricking your mind because it's ALL IN THE MIND.",he said as it was very obvious.Porter
